Romanian cuisine mixed with Romanian atmosphere. My advice is to go for hot wine if in winter, or for "must" if in autumn. "the pork pastrami" is delicious and it goes well with hot mamaligutza (polenta). The place is also known for its barbecued ribs.
The wine cellar of Cerbul Carpatin (the former Hirsher House) was given its present aspect in 1963. The house has been declared a historical monument and has also been put on the UNESCO monument list. Located in the old city. They serve Romanian cuisine.The music played by local bands, the Romanian dancings ( Hora, Sarba, Hategana, Invartita), the joy and the charm of Romanian folk costumes glad the eye and the soul of the audience. Cetate is the former Brasov's fortress built on the top of a hill in 1533. Medieval restaurant serving Transylvanian dishes. Medieval shows by night. The waiters wear medieval clothes. Very busy restaurant serving Romanian cuisine. Once you are here taste "the beef stomach broth", "the pork pastrami with polenta" or venison dishes. They also serve breakfast and all kind of coffee, old wines and a yummy tzuica. If you ask the waiter he can call you a cab.
Sarmis is a very cozy restaurant located a cross the railway station. Once you enter you notice it is divided into three separate saloons. One was designed to be a very practical fast food. To the second one the owner, Dumitru Burtea, gave an authentic Viennese look. The third one, the newest one, serves mainly crepes. The chef creates food that is mostly Romanian-based with few hints of Italian and French influence. Fantastic cuisine - this is the real deal! For small prices a head, you can feast like a king with tasty broth, beautiful grilled meats and a wide range of delicious house specialities. The food here has to be tasted to be believed. DIVINE!
