The Sixth Edition of The Golden Stag Festival - 1993 |
The
sixth edition of The Golden Stag Festival took place in Brasov
between September 2nd - September 5th, 1993, in Sfatului Square
- in the old city. The Festival's host was Ricky Dandel, a famous
international showman born in Romania.
The opening cocktail was offered by the mayor one day before the first contest,
on September 1st, at Cetate Restaurant - a medieval restaurant built in the city's
old fortress.
The festival was broadcast by 25 televisions from all around the world. The public
from abroad was happy to discover the Romanian traditional costumes wore by the
photo-models that escorted the competitors on the stage. The costumes were borrowed
from the Ethnographic Museum in Brasov and from Ghe. Radacea's personal collection.
In
the hors-concurs shows the audience met Toto
Cutugno, Kylie
Minogue, Jerry Lee Lewis, Dionne Warwick, as well as famous
Romanian artists like Holograf or
Nicu Alifantis.
Arina from Lithuania was awarded with The Golden Stag Trophy.
The sixth edition of The Golden Stag Festival ended on September 5th, at the
Aro Palace Restaurant, with a dinner party for the singers, the stars, the jury
and the journalists.

| Kylie Minogue |
 Kylie
Minogue was born on May 28, 1968, in Melbourne. In 1979, she
began her acting career in the Australian TV drama series Skyways,
and in the children's series, The Henderson Kids, before achieving
national fame in the soap opera Neighbours. The story is so simple
you can not imagine. Minogue had agreed to give a charity performance
in the company of other personalities, choosing to sing Little
Eva's Locomotion. Someone recorded the song on tape and sent
it to the local record company, Mushroom, who saw the potential
in releasing a single by the extremely popular young TV star.
No one imagined the song would become the national No.1 hit in July 1987. Further
on Mushroom Records signed a contract with Stock Aitken and Waterman from London,
who also saw potential in working with the young actress. Her second song, I
Should Be So Lucky, became No.1 in U.K.
Stock Aitken and Waterman re-recorded Locomotion, and Minogue scored the Top
Ten in the U.S., Australia, the U.K., and Europe.
Minogue took control over her career with her 1990' single Better the Devil You
Know. She changed her image in a saucier Madonna-like image.
With her fourth album, Let's Go to It (1991), Minogue also insisted on lyrical
input. She ended up leaving Stock Aitken and Waterman and released two albums
on her own.
A romantic relationship with INXS singer
Michael Hutchence had encouraged her to experiment musically. She even tried
a duet, Where the Wild Flowers Grow, with Nick Cave for his Murder Ballads album.
In 2000, she was encouraged by the Pet Shop Boys to switch to their label, Parlophone,
and she re-emerged as the pop princess with Spinning Around. The single reached
No.1 in England and Australia. |
